Don’t Do This As A Seller

Gran Turismo PS2 Game
Gran Turismo PS2 Game

I bought a PS2 game from a seller the other day and even though the description said “very good condition”, it was far from this.

The booklet was crumpled, and both sides of the disc has sticky stuff on it. I don’t even know what it was.

I got in touch with the buyer and this is the reply I received:

Hi Russ, it’s quite an old game, so I would say it is very good condition considering it’s age. Anywhere sorry your not happy with it. What did you want me to do? Give you a refund ?
The game was $8.
I paid $2.5 for it, post was $3, eBay fees were $1.38 and I had to pack it and drop it at the post box. All to make $1.18.
I’ll give you a refund that’s fine but please consider it’s an old game that you paid $8 for.

There is so much wrong with this replay, but I will try and tackle it.

        1. I paid $2.5 for it, post was $3, eBay fees were $1.38 and I had to pack it and drop it at the post box. All to make $1.18. Should I care about this? As a buyer, no. Did I make you over-pay for the game? Did I force you to sell it for that price? Or sell it at all on eBay? None of the above. It doesn’t matter to me what you paid or made. That’s your issue.
        2. it’s quite an old game, so I would say it is very good condition considering it’s age. Age doesn’t put sticky stuff all over the disc. I would have been happy enough with the crumbled booklet, but that disc was terrible. Especially, given you could have easily just used white vinegar and water to white it clean.
        3. I’ll give you a refund that’s fine but please consider it’s an old game that you paid $8 for. What I paid for it has no bearing on whether I should get a refund or not. You didn’t sell me what was advertised. Period.

Please don’t do this as a seller. How and why you sell things is not the issue of the buyer – that’s your issue.

Outcome: I did get a refund. And I should have. But I shouldn’t have gotten a sob story along with it.
