eBay Selling Results – Week 46

Week 46 was a mixed bag.

It started pretty slow, but then on the weekend, I made a few large sales.

Let’s break it down.

What I Sold

From Monday to Wednesday, I only managed 3 sales – all low-priced, low-profit DVDs.

Then, on Thursday, I made a sale for the digital clock radio, which kicked things up a little. From Friday to Sunday I made 4 pretty decent sales: a hardcover roleplaying book, another DVD, a tablet cover, and, the biggest as far as profit goes, a water filter replacement.

The latter making me $36.81 in profit after fees and shipping costs.

How Much I Made

This week is actually my best week by actual sales (see graph below). I sold $195.55 in total sales, which gave me a total of $67.98 in profit.

Wins

The big win for me this week is I have started selling items other than physical media. This means higher profits and bigger sales. You may have remembered from last week that I was worried eBay was promoting my DVDs and CDs but not much else. Well, this week proved that incorrect. I think.

The other win was in finding new inventory.

I went to two fairly small thrift stores and managed to get an old game & watch unit and a Yamaha CD changer unit for $5 and $10, respectively. Both should give me a good return.

Insight

I definitely think that you need to take your time at thrift stores and look all over the store for items to sell. As I have mentioned previously, I usually stay in a thrift store / op shop for 20-40 minutes at the minimum.

And I take the time to turn things over and to rummage around. Plus I look a lot of items I am not sure of up using the eBay app.

Some Stats

Below are some stats, if you are interested in that. These are for the 7 weeks I have been selling with purpose. Dollar amounts are all in Australian dollars.

Avg. Time to List (Days): 7.1
Avg. Time to Sell (Days): 13.4

Avg. Profit/Item: $6.93
Avg. Cost of Goods: $2.36
Avg. Fee: $2.39
Avg. Shipping Cost: $4.82
Avg. Promo Costs: $0.01
Avg. Sell Price: $14.17
Discounts Offered: $5.85

The average time to list definitely jumped up from last week – this is because I have started listings items I have had sitting around for a while.

The average cost of goods lists has come down a little, which is nice. Those are the only two major changes.
